The museum of Zeeland, the Zeeuws Museum, is located in the historic abbey of Middelburg, Abdij van Middelburg, which has the largest collection of Zeelandic heritage in the world. The abbey is the ideal setting for such a cultural museum and has been newly designed to mimic shop windows, fashion catwalks and film sets. The new design sheds a contemporary light on historic artefacts, like its collection of magnificent tapestries.
Terra Maris natural history museum is perfect for a day out with the kids. Located in Oostkapelle, Terra Maris will teach you all about the flora and fauna in Zeeland as well as interesting facts about how the province’s landscape was formed by man, and by the sea. The museum’s lovely landscaped gardens feature a motte-and-bailey castle and the museum organises fun workshops for kids on a regular basis.
